Julieanna Preston, Layne Waerea, and Mick Douglas. FORECAST [one digital billboard and three physical billboards], Te Tuhi Art Gallery, Tāmaki, Aotearoa, 5 June-31 July 2023.

FORECAST is a collaborative and durational performance writing work that occurs at the three billboards along Reeves Road and the digital billboard, both associated with Te Tuhi Art Gallery. The work builds on Word Weathers, a 24-hour, online performance that welcomed the dawn as the earth rotated. FORECAST adopts the same pared back keyboard aesthetic of that Zoom performance to collectively predict, anticipate, and wilfully imagine what the future of our climate might be. Changing over the course of the five-week installation, the messaging on the billboards aims to attract the interest, concern and puzzlement of gallery visitors and road users as a provocation on climate crisis.
